Armaan Nijjar committed to 2022 men's roster

Victoria, B.C. - Victoria Highlanders FC are proud to announce Armaan Nijjar as the third committed player for the 2022 men's roster. Armaan joins the Highlanders from a successful first season with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

"I am looking forward to returning back home to Victoria and playing in front of the home crowd with the Highlanders," commented Nijjar. "I may be one of the younger players, but I believe I have the experience to provide an immediate impact and continue my development. This is the environment where I need to showcase myself and I'm excited for the opportunity to do that."

Nijjar is a central defender who can also play as a defensive midfielder. Nijjar has an impressive youth career in Victoria, highlighted by three Premier Provincial Championships, and being selected to represent Team BC on numerous occasions. The centre back was also the captain of the U23 Pacific FC Tridents in the Vancouver Island Soccer League.

"I’ve watched Armaan grow up within the Victoria soccer community and had the opportunity to work with him as a youth player in the past," commented Coach Simonson. "He is a quality individual and a versatile player who has blossomed in his first year at the University of Alberta. To have him back home and involved with the Highlanders is great for our club".

The Highlanders will be fortunate to have an island talent such as Armaan on hand in the inaugural L1BC season. Welcome, Armaan!
