Cunningham joins the Highlanders with an impressive resume. He developed his skills with the FC Edmonton academy before moving to the University of Alberta. With the Golden Bears he won the 2016 National U Sports Title and was named the National U Sports MVP. This was followed by a First Team All-Canadian honour for the 2017 season.

“I’m excited for the upcoming season and looking forward to learning from Thomas Niendorf. The new ownership group alongside all the news being announced makes me hope that the City will really be behind the project,” stated Cunningham.

Bent joins the Highlanders with an equally impressive resume. The Preston, England native began his career at the age of 4 with English Championship side, Preston North End. Bent led the University of Cape Breton (UCB) to the 2017 U Sports National Title, finishing off the season with six goals and two assists. The English product was named the 2017 U Sports MVP and looks forward to continuing his progress this summer with the Highlanders.

“I’m looking forward to playing with new players, in a different system under a respected coach. It’s always nice to mix it up a bit if you have the opportunity. I chose the Highlanders as I believe it’ll be the best place for me to develop over the summer,” stated Bent.
