Walter is a current member of Niendorf’s Pacific Elite Soccer Institute, having joined the program during the 2016-17 season. While in Calgary, the 19-year-old appeared on the Calgary Foothills U-16 squad that competed in the Boys U-16 Cup of the Sport Chek National Club Championship. Since joining PESI, the midfielder has gained experience through Niendorf’s Vancouver Island Soccer League (VISL) side, Westcastle United – the same squad he helped capture the 2019 Sir John Jackson Cup of the VISL.

“Josh is a shifty player who is comfortable in tight spaces. He is physically very strong, fearless, defends well and works tireless with a great deal of energy,” stated Niendorf. “He had a great year in the VISL for Westcastle and was marked by many as a key player and one of the top performers in the league. Last year, he took the step up from the PCSL group into the PDL and performed very well. He is a year older now, even more mature and for him it is a great chance to take the next step in his development.”

During the 2018 season, Walter appeared in six matches for the Victoria side while logging 474 minutes on the pitch. With a year under his belt and more experience gained through competitions in the VISL and PCSL, Walter is ready for the next challenge.

“I feel very honoured to be a part of this organization and for being given this amazing opportunity to play at the next level,” added Walter. “I am very excited about this season and all the challenges that lie ahead. I hope we can improve and stay consistent from last year and fight for more success. We plan to make Victoria proud!”
