Highlanders Visit TSS FC Rovers in Juan de Fuca Plate Action

VICTORIA, BC - Victoria Highlanders FC (2-4-0) travel to Vancouver to take on rivals TSS FC Rovers(3-1-1) in Week 5 of the Premier Development League (PDL) regular season, June 3 (5:30 PM PST KO) at Swangard Stadium.

Winning a massive three points on Friday versus the previously undefeated Sounders U-23, Highlanders look to get back on level terms versus rivals TSS FC Rovers in the Juan de Fuca Plate. The match will be streamed online through the TSS Rovers Official Youtube Channel.

VICTORIA HIGHLANDERS FC
Highlanders travel to Vancouver on a wave of momentum following an action packed Friday night match under the lights at Centennial Stadium. Sounders U-23 traveled to Victoria with a (1-0-2) record looking to grab three points.

Victoria meanwhile needed three points with one win to their name, despite multiple strong performances throughout the opening weeks of the 2018 season. Late into the first half Seattle’s captain Santiago Patino stood in front of the penalty spot grabbing the lead for the visitors.

On a drizzly night in Victoria the Highlanders fought back in the second half to grab an all important three points ahead of their derby match on Sunday. Multiple players stood out throughout Friday night including defender Peter Schaale, and the two goalscorers Marcus Campanile and Mitchell Popadynetz.

The Juan de Fuca Plate is an award between the Highlanders and TSS. The team that wins the best of three games takes home the Plate. Dropping the first clash in Victoria, Highlanders need a win tonight to stay in the fight for the Plate.

TSS FC Rovers
TSS FC Rovers have had a tremendous 2018 season so far with three wins to their name in five games. Similarly to Victoria, TSS will be entering this game on a wave of momentum following their win versus division leaders Calgary Foothills FC on Friday night to end their undefeated streak.

TSS won 2-1 at home with two goals from Daniel Sagno including a brilliant run from Thomas Gardner to assist Sagno on the second goal. Despite a late goal from Foothills, TSS were able to hold onto three valuable points equalizing Foothills at the top of the table with ten points.

Winning the first matchup in Victoria, TSS has a chance tonight to seal the Juan de Fuca Plate. The Swangard based team eyes three points to push for first place in the division, as well as taking home the Juan de Fuca Plate.

2017 SEASON SERIES
The Juan de Fuca Plate was claimed by the Victoria Highlanders in the 2017 PDL season. Highlanders won the first match-up 1-0 on June 23rd, at Swangard Stadium, with a single goal from Sho Goto. In the second match, TSS won by a score of 3-1 with goals from Daniel Davidson and a brace from Matteo Polisi. Victoria’s lone goal was scored by Sho Goto.

The deciding match for the Juan de Fuca Plate was decided July 9th, at Centennial Stadium. Highlanders won by a score of 2-0 with goals registered by Victoria’s Patrick Nelson and Stuart Heath to seal the Plate. The Juan de Fuca Plate could be decided tonight at 5:30 PM PST.
