Highlanders Welcome Colonial Countertops

by Joshua Rendle

VICTORIA, BC (May 9, 2018) - Victoria Highlanders are pleased to announce a community partnership with Colonial Countertops for the upcoming 2018 Premier Development League (PDL) season. The Vancouver Island based business joins the Highlanders family ahead of the First Team’s opening game in Calgary versus the Foothills.

Colonial Countertops joins an ever growing Highlanders family. When meeting with Jesse Kliman from Colonial Countertops we found out a little bit more about the company and the reasons for their involvement with the club.

Who are you?

We are a family-owned business that has been operating since 1970 on Vancouver Island and the mainland. Colonial Countertops was started by my grandfather Roko Kliman and I am the third generation of the family working in the business. We provide quality, locally fabricated and installed custom countertops for residential and commercial use.

Why are you getting involved with the Highlanders?

We have always been supporters of our community and when we were approached by Mark (deFrias) and the team it was easy to say yes. We've supported the team in the past and knowing the new ownership group involved we were excited for the fresh start and approach the club was going to take in 2018. And of course, as a soccer player myself with Hellas FC (Vancouver Island Soccer League) it is an added bonus to support our premier soccer club in Victoria.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

It's exciting to see the buzz and excitement building in the community with the Highlanders. I'm looking forward to the summer where we can enjoy the sunshine at UVic's Centennial Stadium, a cold beer, and supporting our Highlanders on their home opener May 20th. It should be a fantastic year.

The Highlanders start their season on the road against the Calgary Foothills May 11, with their home opener against the Portland Timbers at Centennial Stadium on May 20. Fans can join the Highlanders players, coaches, owners and fans at theu Kick Off Before Kick Off party on Thursday, April 26 at Distrikt Nightclub. Tickets are only $105 and include a season ticket, Highlanders t-shirt, 2 beverage tickets and appies, as well as entry into a door prize. Or you can purchase a $30 ticket at the door.
