Victoria Highlanders FC at Unity FC – June. 19th, 3:00pm kick-off @ Chase Office Field

On Sunday, June 19th, the Victoria Highlanders will travel to Langley to take on Unity FC (0-3-2). The Highlanders, full of confidence after back to back wins and clean sheets at home, will look to continue their good form as they take on the always threatening, Unity FC. Unity showed their ability earlier this week as they took points off League leaders, Varsity FC, earning a draw at Thunderbird Stadium. With those dropped points by Varsity, this weekend’s match up with Unity FC becomes all the more important for the visiting Highlanders, as a win would put them within 3 points of the leaders.

Quotes: Highlander’s Trevor Schneider

On the moment following the last two wins at home …

“I think the confidence of the group is really high right now. Obviously getting two great wins, 4-0 and 3-0, both clean sheets that the whole team contributed to is fantastic, but we also have to realize that we have to keep it going for this weekend.”

On what to expect from Unity FC…

“What we’re expecting from Unity is a hard battle, just like any team in this league. We need to make sure we show up, try to dominate the game and get another big win.”

On what has changed over the last couple weeks that has allowed the team to be successful…

“I think a big reason for the shift is just the fact that the team is getting together more, the team chemistry is better. You can tell out here every day in training, the guys are smiling and enjoying themselves. I think that’s a big part of why we’ve had success on the pitch.”

Player to watch: Michael Henman

The Victoria native and Highlanders number 9 has proven to be a threat in and around the box, registering 2 assists and 1 goal this season for a team high 3 points. Henman’s strength and pace give him the ability to play as both a traditional target striker, while also being able to threaten in behind the back line. Be sure to keep an eye out for him this weekend as the Highlanders take on Unity FC!
