Varsity FC Edge Highlanders 3-2 in First Half Thriller

This game was a tale of one half, and what a half of football it was! If you blinked you might have missed something, as we saw 5 goals in the first half at Thunderbird Stadium.

The scoring opened in the 10th minute when Varsity’s Emma Regan cleverly put one past the Highlanders goalkeeper off a free kick at the top of the box. The Highlanders would respond shortly after with a wonderful brace from standout forward, Kiara Kilbey, scoring two goals in a 12-minute spell!

The Highlanders wouldn’t hold the league long as Varsity FC drew level in the 38th minute, and quickly struck again in the 41st minute to regain the lead. Varsity would go into the half up 3-2 against the Highlanders.

The second half was much different from the first, with few scoring opportunities and no goals. Despite a couple decent looks for the Highlanders, Varsity FC would hold on to win the match 3-2 at home.

The Highlanders will look to quickly refocus their energy as they head home to play against the Vancouver Whitecaps U19’s tomorrow, Sunday June 4th in their first home game of the season!
