Victoria Highlanders FC announced the commitment of the attackers to the 2022 L1BC Men's Roster.

Hussein Behery

Hussein is a fast player with a lot of creativity. The Egyptian-born player is one of our weapons in attack this season and is sure to turn some heads! Hussein completed his final two season of University soccer with the UNBC Timberwolves, where he played under our coach Steve Simonson.

"Excited for the opportunity to play at a high level of football in this new league, hopefully, we can be the first team ever to win this competition", commented Hussein. "Help the team score goals. That could be by scoring, assisting, or just helping build up play. I want to be the best player I could be for the team and be as effective as possible."

Leo Nakabayashi

Leo joins us from his two-year experience at the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. The Tokyo-born player is an attacking midfielder and creative winger who will add depth and technical knowledge to the Highlanders attack. Leo was nominated for Most Valuable Player within the Vancouver Island Soccer League Under-21 Graduate Division in 2020.

"I am looking forward to playing and winning against all the other teams in the league. I think this is a great new opportunity for all the players in BC to compete in", stated Leo. "I want to play the best of my abilities by scoring and assisting a lot, and most importantly help the team win. Overall, I want to learn many things from our new coach Steve and use this as a stepping stone for my soccer journey".

Nick Park

Nick is another offensive presence for the Highlanders this season. Nick played for BCSPL Fusion FC, Quest University, where he spent two seasons, West Van FC, and Khalsa Sporting Club. Most recently, Nick played for the UVIC Vikes, where he honed in his technical ability and established himself as an attacking threat!

"I am looking forward to being a part of this new BC league 1 in its first season. This is a great opportunity to play high-level summer soccer with a group of talented players".  I look forward to getting on the same page with my new teammates to compete in this league and perform to the best of our ability, commented Park. "I look forward to playing my role in our team system while on a personal note bringing creativity to our offensive front".

Leo Sanchez

Leo Sánchez is another product of the residency program. He is an experienced player, as he was part of Tennessee Wesleyan University. Leo adds creativity and passion to this already dangerous highlanders attack.

"I’m looking forward to play with the top players in Victoria in a competitive, new league. It’s my goal to help the team in any way possible and continue to improve as a player and person". commented Leo.

Anthony Preston

Anthony Preston comes to the Highlanders with the experience of having played for the UNBC Timberwolves. Right from the start Anthony proved to be a fantastic addition to the Twolves, earning the 2018-2019 the UNBC Male Rookie of the Year award. Anthony is known for his grit and relentless pursuit to win the ball. But don’t let that fool you, this Prince George product has no trouble finding the back of  the net!

"I’m most looking forwards to playing at a high level with a new group of really talented players", stated Anthony. "I am hoping to contribute to the team’s success with goals and assists and help the team place as well as we can in this new league!"

Welcome!
