Quotes: Highlander’s Kiara Kilbey

On expectations for the final game at home…

“We’re coming off one win from our two games last weekend, which felt good. I think everyone kind of feels a bit more connected out there going into the last game of the season. It’s always nice to end at home against a team we’ve played before and know what they’re like. I think the biggest thing is just playing well for each other and for the fans and just ending strong and leaving it all out there for the last one.”

On honouring the First Responders at the home game this weekend…

“The fans have been incredible. Especially being from the island it’s really cool getting to see people from the island coming together like this to support women’s soccer here. The Lake Side Buoys in particular have been fantastic, especially coming to our away games. We have a really great support system and it’s been really great. We can hear them while we’re out there and it definitely helps.”

Player to watch: Sophie Miranda

Sophie Miranda has been pivotal for the Highlanders all season long. The talented midfielder has showcased her vision and passing ability this season, picking apart the oppositions defence and helping initiate many of the Highlanders attacks. Miranda’s ability to maintain possession and relieve pressure on the dribble has made her a nightmare for other teams to defend and makes her our player to watch in the final game of the season!
