As part of the partnership, El Patrón will provide ‘stylish’ cuts to the Highlanders athletes as well as creating an in-game contest during the season for fans to win free haircuts. “Everyone feels good after a great haircut and we’re excited to provide our players with a home during the summer months that they can keep their hair on point, or as some of our younger players will say, on fleek!” stated co-owner Mark deFrias.

When meeting with Eder and Raul this past week their passion for the local community and soccer was evident. Highlanders Marketing & Communications coordinator, Josh Rendle, took the time to learn more about El Patrón and why they felt inclined to participate as a partner with the Highlanders.
Who are you?

El Patrón is about community. The local barbershop in every culture is the essence of a community - you get all sorts of people coming in and chatting about everyday life - the barber not only cuts your hair but they also become your counselor. When we opened up this shop, we wanted to focus on providing high-end, high-quality haircuts, in an environment that was comfortable for our clients.

Why are you getting involved with the Highlanders?

Soccer in South America is at a different level - it’s a religion really. So we’ve been supporters of soccer our whole lives. It’s about supporting your cities club colours - being a representative of them in our community - and helping to grow the beautiful game in our city and our country. When we were approached by one of the co-owners, Ryan Wilson, it was an easy decision for us. We know the ownerships strength and the club will only grow bigger in the future and so we are excited to get involved at the ground level.

What are you most looking forward to this year?

A championship! We think it would be great if the Highlanders could make a run for the title. It would be nice to see a team from the city that could pull it off and that might be possible this year with the new coach and new ownership.

EL PATRÓN! Welcome to the Highlanders family.
