Olivia Swinton joins VHFC Women’s roster
Victoria, B.C. - Victoria Highlanders FC announce Olivia Swinton as the newest addition to the 2022 women's L1BC roster. After a successful collegiate career with the UVic Vikes where she played four seasons, Swinton looks to suit up in black and gold for the inaugural L1BC season.
“I’m looking forward most to the high level of competition we will be facing. Last season we finished strong, and I am looking forward to another successful season", commented Swinton. "My personal objectives for the 2022 season is to help support and inspire the young athletes of today’s generation. There are many opportunities opening up in the community and if I can be of any assistance to helping them reach their football career goals, that would be a successful season in my eyes".
The Victorian-born player is a versatile outside midfielder or defender. Olivia has a rich experience in the soccer world despite her young age. Swinton played on the VI Wave program, UVic Vikes, and Vancouver Island FC in the WPSL.
“Swinny was a big part of our first season in the WPSL, she would get forward and start attacks and create lots of scoring chances as a left defender”, said Assistant Coach Wes Barrett. "Likely a home crowd favorite as she grew up on the island and is a very exciting player to watch as she loves to attack and go 1v1 against other players”
Welcome back, Olivia!
