Victoria Highlanders FC Announce 2019 Season Ticket Pricing

VICTORIA, BC – Victoria Highlanders FC announced today their family friendly season ticket prices for the upcoming 2019 USL League 2 campaign. All tickets include 8 home matches are set at $75 for adults and $55 for youth.

"The support by the community last season was remarkable, and we are very appreciative," said Highlanders co-owner Mark deFrias. "There's no question that the increased attendance and energized gameday environment had a positive impact and we are definitely looking forward to continuing to provide this level of soccer in Victoria, while providing a family friendly, affordable and fun game day experience."

A major success last season was the Peninsula Co-Op Kids Zone. Peninsula Co-Op will continue their participation with the Highlanders through more fun activations in their Kids Zone. Parents in the mean time will have the ability to experience a new selection of Phillips Brewery craft beer to wet their palettes during the sunny days at Centennial Stadium. 

"It's all about the families for us. I've got a five year old daughter and I know the interest level she has in terms of sitting calmly in her seat to watch soccer for ninety minutes. Zero chance!", chimed deFrias. "There are so many young families looking for a friendly, fun environment, that doesn't break the bank, but allows for you to watch your favourite sport knowing that your kids are also having fun, and that maybe you don't have to be running around keeping them in check. That‘s always been an important idea we wanted to create at our game days and I think last season we proved we could." 

2018 was a year of growth for the Highlanders organization. In February 2018, a new ownership group was announced that included local community-minded business leaders looking to support the Highlanders and continue to provide opportunities to players in the sport that has given them so much. The ownership wanted to set the tone of this change early, and marking the 10th anniversary of the Highlanders made the decision to rebrand the logo, hire a new coaching staff and begin the work of reengaging with the local business community.

"Competing at this level of soccer is difficult. We have arguably the toughest division in USL League Two." stated deFrias. "We compete against Major League Soccer U23 programs (Seattle and Portland), as well as probably the strongest team we've seen last year in Calgary Foothills FC who won it all in the end. It's tough, but we're up for the challenge and looking forward to providing this platform to young athletes in our community and beyond who want to pursue soccer further. We are a small cog in a big wheel trying to provide opportunities to kids and we feel lucky to be able to give back in this way."

Highlanders FC are the premier level of amateur soccer on Vancouver Island, with a strong focus on providing opportunities to young student-athletes as they pursue their academic and professional dreams within the world’s game. Our story started over eleven years ago and continues to evolve and grow overtime. Highlanders currently have close to 100 players competing on three teams, the pinnacle being USL League 2 which competes in the Northwest Division. 

Notable Highlanders alumni include Matt Polster (Glasgow Rangers, Scottish Premier League), Brett Levis (Vancouver Whitecaps, Major League Soccer), Jamar Dixon (Ottawa Fury, USL Championship), Josh Heard (Real Monarchs, USL Championship) and recently drafted 4th overall Callum Montgomery (FC Dallas, Major League Soccer).
